Organic Kale 'Dwarf Blue Curled' (Brassica Oleracea L.)- Compact heirloom variety with curly, blueish-green leaves. Outstands for its sweet, beautiful flavour and nicely tender texture. Grows as compact, very hardy bush and produce an abundance of longish, delicate, densely curled leaves that can be harvested directly from the garden through the cold winter months. The colder it is, the sweeter the kale tastes. Grows to 30-45cm (12-18in) tall. Deservedly called a super food, it's packed with body alkalising nutrients, which naturally keeps the body healthy and strong. Re-grows after cutting. Perfect for juicing (does not give the bitterness, as some other kale varieties), a must in salads, great for stir fry, steaming, cooking.
Growing:for tropical climate recommended to be grown to baby stage only. Planting season: year round in warm/tropical climates; in temperate climates - early spring, starting from transplants four weeks prior the last frost date or direct seeding once the soil can be worked. Fall, sowing seeds two months prior first expected frost for full size and up until frost for baby leaf. Soil: Well drained, fertile soil high in organic matter, with a pH 6-7.5. Can tolerate slightly alkaline soil. Sowing depth: 1/4-1/2in (0.6-1.2cm); Plant spacing: Baby leaf, direct seeding - 60 seeds/ft in 2-4in (5-10cm) bands; Full size - 12-18in (30-45cm). Row spacing: 18-30in (45-76cm) for full size. Sun: full sun/partial shade; Moisture: regular watering to keep the soil moist (not wet). Fertlizing: recommended. Matures in 53-65 days after transplant.
