Russian Tarragon (Artemisia Dracunculoides L.) - perennial heirloom reaching 2ft (0.6m) tall with aromatic leaves that are used to flavour poultry, fish, eggs, salads etc. Posses warm flavour with spicy notes. Used fresh, dried or frozen. Hardy and easy to grow.
Growing: poor, sandy soils and full sun. Moderate watering. Needs very basic care. For warm climates can be planted year round, for temperate climates, sow the seeds indoors from Feb and transplant when the danger of last frost is gone. Sow the seeds 1/2in (12mm) deep and make sure the compost is moist, yet not soggy. Germination usually takes 7-14 days.
